ASMC Hampton Roads Chapter came together with an astounding 34 volunteers on Saturday November 17th in downtown Norfolk and served over 150 hot meals to the homeless within our community. It was a HUGE success!! We heard constant praises and words of appreciation as we served those in need. During this event ASMC members as well as their families and friends feed the homeless, talked with them, provided them blankets, jackets, blessing bags, socks, prayed with them, drew pictures for them, and made them feel special! Not only did we serve over 150 hot meals but we also provided the following: 150 blessing bags with toiletry items, 20 blankets, 25 jackets/hoodies, 200 bags/backpacks, and provided numerous miscellaneous items such as gloves, hats, socks, hand sanitizer, tooth brushes, etc. I want to thank all of you for coming out and supporting this event, I am truly thankful for each of you. During this holiday season we should remember, it’s not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them is the true measure of Thanksgiving. — Candace Mianulli, USCG Community Service Chair
